Chamonix is approximately 75 miles (120 km) from the chateau right on the border of Switzerland and Italy. As you drive through the mountains you will pass by some of the most famous ski resorts in the world.

The written history of Chamonix goes back to 1091 when the count of Geneva gave the valley to the church.  Since that time the Chamonix valley has risen to be the center of alpine skiing and climbing for all of Europe.
